Why healing happens when you let your body set the pace

When You Stop Forcing Yourself to “Get Over It"

Why healing happens when you let your body set the pace

Many women carry a quiet pressure to “get over it.”

To move on faster.

To be stronger by now.

To stop feeling what still lingers.

To function as if the past didn’t leave a mark.

This pressure doesn’t come from nowhere.

It’s often learned in environments where slowing down wasn’t safe, where emotions were inconvenient, or where survival required forward motion—no matter the cost.

So you learned to override yourself.

You learned to say, “I should be past this.”

You learned to keep going when your body wanted to pause.

You learned to push healing into a timeline it never agreed to.

But healing doesn’t respond to force.

It responds to permission.

Why “Getting Over It” Keeps You Stuck

When you try to force healing, your nervous system hears urgency—not safety.

Urgency sounds like:

“I don’t have time to feel this.”

“Other people have it worse.”

“I should be stronger than this.”

“Why am I still affected?”

These thoughts don’t motivate healing.

They interrupt it.

Your body heals when it feels safe enough to process—not when it’s pressured to perform.

Healing Happens at the Speed of the Body

Your body carries memory differently than your mind.

The mind wants resolution.

The body wants regulation.

Healing looks less like “getting over it” and more like:

listening instead of rushing

allowing instead of controlling

responding instead of judging

staying present instead of pushing away

This isn’t weakness.

It’s wisdom.

You Are Not Behind

There is no correct timeline for healing.

You’re not late.

You’re not broken.

You’re not doing this wrong.

You’re responding exactly as a human nervous system does after stress, trauma, loss, or long-term survival.

And that deserves respect—not criticism.

Begin Here

Let this be the season you stop forcing yourself forward and start listening inward.

Healing doesn’t need pressure.

It needs permission.
